The Slow Wonder is the first solo release for Carl Newman, who can also be found leading indie-rock supergroup The New Pornographers as well as the now-defunct Canadian power-pop band Zumpano.

I plan to edit this on Tuesday and replace this sentence with a longer write-up — it’s been a busy day and night. Actually, that’s a lie. But it was a day that included a loss of electricity. So that’ll be my excuse for now. I will be back later to write more about Newman, though. Carl Newman, that is. A.C. Not Wayne Knight.

EDIT: Alright, here’s the aforementioned edit. I’m going to keep this short, though. I first heard of The New Pornographers sometime in the summer of 2003, soon after their second album was released. It must have been online somewhere, because certainly no radio station in the Eau Claire area would be playing it. So that is what led to me listening to Carl Newman’s solo album this summer. Quite the exciting story.
