“Moment is Now!”
from the album Dimmer.

[iTunes]

I went to see Spoon last night in Chicago. They played a free “private” concert at the Metro, and my friend won tickets last week and invited me along. Spoon was awesome. And I had actually heard of the opening band, too, which is almost always a good thing.

I still don’t know much about The Zincs, but I decided I liked them well enough last night to make them today’s blog post. What I do know: frontman Jim Elkington is a Brit who now resides in Chicago.

On the first record released under his Zincs moniker, Moth and Marriage, Elkington played every instrument himself. On the new disc Dimmer., he is joined by Nathaniel Braddock on guitar, Nick Macri is on bass, and Jason Toth is on drums.
