Since the 2010 release of their first album, Beauregard, New Orleans indie-pop duo Pepper Rabbit have seen the slow wave of their electronic-tinged orchestral rock spread across the tour circuit.

“Rose Mary Stretch,” the first single off the band’s upcoming sophomore album, Red Velvet Snow Ball, features a wonderful distinction between hyper-choral exclamations and close, comfortable warm guitars.

“This is a song I wrote about how I was feeling about a year after high school,” Xander Singh tells Spinner. “When I first went back to the town and saw what people were doing with their lives, all in good schools, studying and fulfilling their plans, I felt somewhat left out and a bit ridiculed for not following the same path. When I look back now, I feel content with all my decisions and am able to move on from it all.”
