The self-titled debut of Milwaukee’s Field Report (to be released September 11) is now streaming via Partisan Records’ Soundcloud. Chris Porterfield (anagram of “Field Report”) used to be the pedal steel player in DeYarmond Edison (Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Megafaun’s old band). When the band broke up, Chris figured his musical career was over, but went on to spend six years writing a haunting set of songs both crafty and poignant, quiet and compelling. Paul Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies, Warren Zevon, Uncle Tupelo) produced the tracks — which were met with acclaim from many SXSW presenters — and toured with both Emmylou Harris and Counting Crows on their respective tours this summer, and will hit the road this fall with Aimee Mann.
