The Shitty Barn Sessions are back! This Wednesday and/or Thursday night, come share an evening with Piedmont blues musician Charlie Parr in Spring Green. Hailing from Duluth, Minnesota, Parr just released his 12th full-length album, Hollandale. A masterfully primitive piece of art, Hollandale delivers an experience best heard within rustic walls. The nearly 11-minute “I Dreamed I Saw Paul Bunyan Last Night” embodies Parr’s musical depth, precision, and ability to project something relatable. With the genre façade of traditional American folk, the entirely instrumental plot of Hollandale pieced together edges on the post-folk blues.

Thursday, May 22, 2014 – SOLD OUT
The Shitty Barn; Spring Green, WI
7 PM; $15

If there is one thing you must understand, it is this: the music is up to Parr. Even if he does not say a word during the entire performance, he will communicate better than many musicians around. It is with one of his three weapons — the banjo, the resonator guitar, and the 12-string — that Parr will create an atmosphere that will warm an already friendly environment at the Shitty Barn.

Can’t make it on Thursday? Don’t fret. The man on the fretless open-back banjo will also take the non-existent stage on Wednesday. With summer around the corner, making a trip to the barn is an obvious decision. Furthermore Beer will be flowing from the neighborhood brewery and the skies will be clear. So come with plenty of food to grill before the 7 PM start.
