Camille Corazón is undoubtedly proud of her first official single. She has good reason to be, as “XXVII” was both written and produced by the up-and-coming New York-based artist.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Corazón and her lovely voice attracted attention around the globe as she toured within the house music scene. Formally introduced to the United States and Jonk Music through her 2013 collaboration with Silent Rider titled “Black Crown,” Corazón is now set to release her own album — a debut greatly anticipated across genre lines due to a résumé full of similarly blended work.

Bringing with her aspects of chillstep and overseas pop, Corazón teamed up with 1984 for vocal production on “XXVII,” an ironically addictive homage to “The 27 Club.” The lyrical melody drives the song, leaving her pleas for a return of the gone-too-soon musicians of the world echoing in your head long after a listen.

“They took you. They took you, away. We need you. We need you, to stay.”

The overwhelming emotion of her words is not lost through repetition but rather floats on to empower those we’ve lost while enlightening the beautiful minds still among us. As we prepare for her full-length debut, we can only guess she may someday be recognized as the talent so evident in “XXVII.”
