You know what they say: “the family that plays together stays together.” That much is true for husband and wife duo Tennis. Conceived on a seven-month sailing trip, the band was born in 2010 when the couple showed a few friends some songs they had written that were inspired by their travels. During Tennis’ short existence, their original ’50s girl band sound has gradually taken on a funkier vibe, evidenced by their newest album, Ritual in Repeat, released on September 9.

The second single, entitled “I’m Callin’,” is an irresistibly cool testament to the pair’s newfound embrace of funk. A matter-of-fact synth riff sets the tone for the track, and the beat grooves steadily under vocals with perfectly manicured harmonies. The perfect combination of sweet and saucy, this song will have you licking your lips, hungry for more.
