Storytelling takes on a new form in our subconscious, creating detailed landscapes and narratives over the course of a night only to disappear when our bodies lift themselves out of the trance. The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter stands at the intersection of shoegaze and R&B with songs that are both beautifully resonant and hypnotically bold. Her latest single, “See Me,” feels like a Wild Rumpus dreamscape, eerie and playful. The track is produced by Glass Animals’ Dave Bayley, who brings together layered synths and ambient production to perfectly frame Tei Shi’s gorgeous voice. It’s an entrancing way to stay in that dream state just a little bit longer.
