Whatever comes to mind when you hear the word “office” is a day job reality for many of us. We may like our jobs, but our offices still have the fluorescent lights and mall carpets that call back to dentist visits. We stare off into the imitation wood expanse of our desks, days punctuated by paper clipping and envelope licking and web page scrolling. Deers is the antithesis of that.

Deers is the messy, uninhibited, “day off” version of you. The version you want to travel with, dance with and get drunk with in the summertime. Their music reflects that perfectly, and there’s no better example than “Trippy Gum,” a demo that the Madrid-based duo put out before becoming a foursome and perhaps changing their name to Hinds (we’ll keep you updated). It’s rife with organic sounds and blown out guitars and joyous melodies, a perfect antidote to the office blues.
