Mum has been the definite word on NYC-based band Guards for roughly a year now, having apparently hidden away to work on their sophomore album after 2013’s In Guards We Trust. Their single, “Nothing More,” is reminiscent of their debut album in sound—retro-inspired pop tunes with a healthy amount of synth for good measure.

It’s kind of difficult not to like anything these guys put out. It’s infinitely palatable, and the good vibes in “Nothing More” only makes this all the more true. After all, everyone needs a good dose of lyrics that remind you to “Let them know who you are/Don’t look back, you’ll go far” every once in a while.
