Kate Boy’s “Northern Lights” is one of those songs that blends genres beautifully. It could be described as electronic, indie dance, or as pure pop. Truly, it is a combination of all, and the result is catchy and commanding.

A heavy bass line runs throughout, grounding the tweaky synth notes and distorted electronic sounds, but the lead singer’s vocals are oversized and simple at the same time. She belts in a way that will have the listener singing along and reaching for those northern lights, like the chorus advocates.

Look for the full-length debut in 2013.
