Apparently it’s a season for breakup jams, because I have yet another one for your listening pleasure. And this one is one has the added benefit of a sense of mystery — so far all the Internet can tell you about this Hoodlem is that they are Melbourne-based and pretty much impossible to Google. No worries, though. If they keep making tracks this obsession-worthy, they won’t stay anonymous for too long.

R&B-esque vocals, a sporadic, electronic beat, and lyrics that could not give fewer shits whether they hurt your feelings, Hoodlem may just be too cool for her own good (though really, is there such a thing?). The rhythms hold their own, but it’s really the vocal arrangements that keep you listening. While they follow a basic musical pattern, the singer masters what I can only describe as a modern electronic version of scatting… just as soon as you think you know what’s coming next, she changes something. It’s nothing short of delectable.
