Holy 1990s… just in time for Valentine’s Day, MØ has taken a piece of pop that we all know and love and blessed it with her own dose of genius. I hesitate to even call her version of the Spice Girls’ iconic “Say You’ll Be There” a cover. Her manipulation takes the pop classic and slams it with a style and edge that is one hundred percent MØ. It’s a respectful nod to women who helped solidify a genre that MØ is now simply dominating.

Where the song was once sexy bubble gum pop, MØ’s version is straight up sultry and full of risk. She sings the lyrics “Any fool can see I have fallen, gotta make you understand, I’ll give everything I swear, just promise you’ll be there” like a dare rather than a vow — drawing the listener in and spitting them back out again. In any case, whether your February 14th this year is shaping up to be slow, steady, and committed or more of the wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am variety, this is just the song to get you through the night.
