Can’t lie, the title had me skeptical as to what an artist called Damaged Bug would sound like playing a song titled “Eggs at Night,” but the world of indie-rock music has surprised me again. Masked by the moniker “Damaged Bug,” John Dwyer plays a tune I have come to love. Originally of Thee Oh Sees, Dwyer recently released his solo LP as Damaged Bug using drums, synthesizers, and homemade electronics to create his spacey pop sound. “Eggs at Night” is the perfect example of what Dwyer has been able to achieve on his own away from the band and what the rest of his LP Hubba Bubba holds for listeners. Dwyer’s solo music sounds vastly different from the rest of his work with a darker synthpop edge and a garage style core he’s created his own little musical world as Damaged Bug.
