“Bow Down” captures Geese at their most swaggering and unhinged, the sound of a young band realizing they can make chaos feel like catharsis. The guitars slash and snarl, the rhythm section lunges forward, and Cameron Winter sounds like he’s testing the limits of his own bravado.
What makes it work is the looseness. Geese still sound like they’re playing in a basement, even as the hooks get sharper and the confidence grows. There’s a touch of Talking Heads in the funk, a bit of Arctic Monkeys in the strut, but the energy is unmistakably their own.
“Bow Down” doesn’t ask for your attention. It takes it and then laughs while everything around it catches fire.
