Imagine a conversation with a close friend in which you’re describing a feeling of low-burning sadness that you can’t quite explain or articulate. To your own dissatisfaction, you attempt to describe yourself but feel like you’re still missing the words that tie your disparate thoughts together. Frustrated, you end your attempt with some variation of “Do you know what I mean?” in hope that your listener can say what you can’t seem to. This track knows what you mean, and the feeling it creates says it better than you ever could. Delicate, tender, and entwined with a subtle but an unmistakable sense of loss and longing, Lucuc’s “Small Window” is a comforting and deliberate beauty.

Austrailian duo Zoë Randell and Steve Hassett have remarkable musical chemistry characterized by patience and seamless harmonization. Their second album, Passerby, was released yesterday and is well worth a listen.
