With a burst of energy that is somewhat akin to a third shot of espresso in the morning, Whitecliff has returned after a brief hiatus with their new track, “Young Lovers.” Given that the song covers the emotional roller coaster of a budding relationship, it makes perfect sense that it is delivered with deliberate urgency. I think there’s something about Liverpool that makes boys just want to slip on their tightest pants and make songs that are too jaunty not to dance to — and that’s what we have here. It’s true pop music without too much bubble, true boy band appeal without the auto-tune.

The Young Lovers EP was released Oct. 2. Definitely worth a listen for when you need to turn up the mood of that lame party you’re sitting at.
