GGOOLLDD: “Bling Ring” [Premiere]

GGOOLLDD are one of the finest Milwaukee acts to emerge in recent years. Fusing airy vocals with late night grooves, the six-piece collective has crafted a sound that’s as familiar as it is fresh. Riding off the success of their debut single (a demo called, well duh, “Gold”), GGOOLLDD has already forged a solid place in the Milwaukee music scene. After playing high-profile gigs with bands like Drowners, Sylvan Esso, and Collections of Colonies of Bees, the group has found time to record more music and expound upon their initial effort.

Thankfully, they’ve given Jonk Music the opportunity to present some fruits of their hard work. We are extremely pleased to premiere “Bling Ring,” a single from GGOOLLDD’s new EP, $TANDARD$, which the band will release this Thursday night with a free show at Yield Bar in Milwaukee.

Picking up where the infectious “Gold” demo left off, “Bling Ring” is a synthy banger—one of those songs you’ll want to play at full blast on a summer night. The track does a fine job flaunting GGOOLLDD’s strengths: pulsating synths, powerful vocals, and radio-friendly pop melodies.

For fans of Cults, Future Islands, Phantogram, or really just anyone who enjoys dancing, GGOOLLDD should be right up your alley. This band is geared to take their sound to big places, but before they blow up completely you can catch GGOOLLDD at Jonk Music’s own Solskinn Music Festival on Saturday, August 16.
