Seasoned veterans of the indie rock scene, it isn’t too surprising that Stars is about to deliver us another great album with The North, to be released September 4. The single “Hold on When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It” gives listeners a taste of what the Vancouver based group does best: honest songs about that talk about love.

Pulsing with synth rock sound, “Hold on When You Get Love” is ripe with a sense of urgency that is further encouraged by the lyrics. It takes a couple of listens (the music is easy to get lost in) but as you listen to the words you clearly get the sense the group has some experience with the subject matter. Or, as the song poignantly admits: “If I’m frightened, if I’m high / My weakness please forgive it / At least I hold on when I get love / And I let go when I give it.”

If nothing else, listening to Stars is a little like climbing into bed after a long day. You pretty much know what it is going to be like, but it never stops being good.
