This song makes me want to run, really fast and really far. And I’m not just saying that because the title is “Time to Run.” The beat drives the listener’s knee into a restless bound, and the vocals call with the words “run away with me.”

“Time to Run” starts off with what sounds like echoing wind and wind chimes, a slow and calming beginning to a rather energetic song. When the drums come in amidst the simple plucking of a guitar, the song turns into a travelling song. It swells into swaggering choruses, atmospheric layers, and abstract instrumentals, all with that driving drum beat and light tambourine. It is uplifting and inspiring folk music.

Not much is known about Lord Huron, other than the fact that it is the alias of Los Angeles-based and Michigan-born Ben Schneider and that he released two EPs in 2010. This song is the first single off of Lord Huron’s most recent project, which is a debut LP entitled Lonesome Dreams that will be released on October 9 after much anticipation from longtime listeners.

In conjunction with the audio track release of “Time to Run,” Lord Huron has released a video that complements the song perfectly. How it been since you’ve taken a night out of your busy life in order to see a good Western? If you’re anything like the rest of us, it’s been a long time. Well, don’t worry, the music video for “Time to Run” is a Western in itself and has everything that the classics possess” the desert, shootouts, leather chaps, thick mustaches, hangings, and sepia tone. The protagonist is running away from his pursuers, but you have to watch the video to find out what happens to him!

Even without the video, “Time to Run” is catchy, relaxing, and simply wonderful.
