“Stars” is the synthy, futuristic title track to Roses Gabor’s forthcoming EP on Girls Music, the UK-based label run by production wizard Toddla T. After a string of collaborations, she dropped the debut single on December 17 last year. Prior to this release, Gabor was better known as Rosie Wilson.

“Stars,” produced by Redlight, starts out with mellow keys and then becomes progressively more industrial. The track is three minutes long and culminates only a third of the way in. At that point it becomes a cornucopia of sounds, kicked off by flourishes of ray gun-like bursts (yes, ray gun), followed by piano and reverb dampened percussion. Surprisingly all those sounds mesh perfectly together, even more-so when watching the sea-punk-inspired video.

Chances are this isn’t the first time you’ve heard Roses Gabor’s subdued voice. Let’s try that again: this isn’t the first time. Actually, you might have seen her live, without even realizing it. Gabor has played venues of all sizes, from underground clubs to Madison Square Garden. Remember this song? That was her singing lead vocals on the Gorillaz 2005 hit single “Dare”. Expect to hear much more from Gabor in 2013 and be sure to check out the equally as amazing B-side “Night Sky.”
