If you’re getting excited for METZ, don’t be one of those indie rock asshats who show up fashionably late for shows because “the opener’s probably not that great.” No Joy is the second band on this bill of three and hot damn are they good.

On record No Joy has been heading towards shimmery-shoegaze as of late (see “Lunar Phobia”, the gorgeous lead-off single from their recently released album Wait to Pleasure) and will be up the alley of anyone who just discovered My Bloody Valentine since Jasamine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd, the two women who formed the band in 2009, have clearly been acolytes of Kevin Shields for quite some time.

If you’re worried that they might be an uneven match for METZ grunge-energy fueled stage show, have no fear. No Joy can get markedly heavier live, drifting into the same dense-riff territory of early Dinosaur Jr. Dig into “Hawaii” off their first album, 2010’s Ghost Blonde, but FYI don’t look up the video if you’re at work cuz nekkid folks with boobs and butts and stuff.

This is a gloriously stacked lineup, so get it together, be there early, and prepare to have your hair blown back by these, to quote Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, “two hot blonde girls just shredding away.”
