Dan Croll has a remarkable ability to make groovy tracks that are thoroughly layered, with smooth, dynamic transitions, and don’t at any point lose their chill. A few months ago, we featured another Croll song, “From Nowhere”, an upbeat track with heavy electronics, and prominent bass and hi-hat which carry the rhythm. “Wanna Know” has these same elements but takes a more leisurely route.

The track has hints of a psychedelic-influence, easy vocals, and muffled instrumentation to make a light, completely nonthreatening sound. Croll’s lyrics, however innocent, drop a few lines that tiptoe the line between sweet and ominous. “I wanna know where you are / I wanna know when you leave your home / I wanna call in the night / and feel your bones around mine … The one that you should know is, I’ll never let you go.”

The 22-year-old is fresh out of music school and already gaining healthy recognition. Although his newer and most praised tracks have been rooted in electronic, Croll is no stranger to the acoustic scene, as seen in this impressive live performance of “Home”
