Short of being in an in-crowd club with a full dancefloor and some full-blown light effects, it’s difficult to fully appreciate this track. Montreal producer Jacques Greene has a knack for creating ambient tracks, but in turning up the tempo and working with the vocals of How to Dress Well’s Tom Krell, Greene’s “On Your Side” reaches into house music/dance track territory. Greene’s hoppy subdued production lays the groundwork and ignites the groove while Krell’s falsetto punctuates the spaces between the beat.

Greene’s On Your Side EP marks his second EP release, and he’s clearly not yet done testing the waters. Aside from producing his own music, Greene has worked with both Radiohead and Azealia Banks. In fact, if you’ve contributed to the 50-plus million views of the video for Banks’ brilliant “212”, you may have seen Greene staring at the camera while getting lyrical bombs dropped on him.

If you don’t have a nearby in-crowd establishment to play tracks like “On Your Side,” find one and please tell me where I can do the same.
