Electro pop duo Carousel is casting their net of chill synth pop out from their home base in Brooklyn. Having both attended Berklee School of Music in Boston, Kevin Friedman and Jackson Phillips were roommates throughout college but never made music together until after graduation. The pair put out their first EP, Palms, earlier this year to critical praise across the web.

With hazy vocals layered effortlessly on top of a dreamy synth background, the track “Before You” slips into your subconscious without a trace. Calmly breathing the lyrics “I was better then / I was better before you,” the song sweetly mourns the subtle loss of something inside oneself that occurs when a relationship ends. Despite the poignant lyrics, this song is sure to calm you into a state of tranquility.
