In the best sense of the word, slow motion comes to mind when listening to “Basement Fires” by King of Spain. Not the slow motion where all you want is for the song to end and it feels like it never will, but slow motion in the sense that the melody feels tranquil and the heavy voice carrying the song doesn’t move around. Instead the song stays in the same tone while in slow motion changes ever so slightly. “Basement Fires” almost feels as if it’s wrapped in an invisible blanket dimming the sound to a calm, yet steady beat. The cool ambiance and laid-back beats from King of Spain can put anyone in the mood to slow down their day.
