You’re welcome, Madison. Folk soul queens Anais Mitchell and Patty Griffin will be playing High Noon on Wednesday and pretty much I expect you to be there if you have a soul. I grew up listening to Patty Griffin CDs, my mother’s super fandom inevitably rubbing off on her oh-so-impressionable daughter.

High Noon Saloon
8 PM; Sold Out

Mitchell is opening for Griffin with selections from her critically acclaimed 2013 album, Child Ballads. For Griffin, while she no doubt will bless the crowd with old favorites (as she has a tendency to do in concerts), will perform songs from both of her recent albums, American Kid and Silver Bell. Though Silver Bell was recorded in 2000, Griffin only recently released the album to the wider public after allowing the Dixie Chicks to cover the folk country masterpieces “Truth No. 2” and “Top of the World.” The fact that we will now get to see Griffin perform these live is a downright treat and blessing.

Besides “Truth No. 2” and “Top of the World,” make sure to listen for other emotionally satisfying gems such as “Go Where You Wanna Go” and “Ohio” from American Kid.
