Veteran psychedelic rockers Woods, now on their eighth studio album in With Light and With Love, have reigned in their classic spontaneous writing practices, aiming for a sound that is easier to recreate live. Using lead singer Jeremy Earl’s own label for distribution, the band has succeeded in creating a record that is much tighter and well organized than any of their previous releases.

With its whimsical licks and hazy vocals, “Moving to the Left” features a cleaner version of their usual psychedelic folk sound. The song leaps out of the starting gate, launching directly into a rollicking chord progression backed by driving percussion. The inherent catchiness of the track comes from its bouncy beat and repetitive movement, but it sets itself apart with interesting guitar melodies that jam along until the end.
