Psychedelic Brooklyn trio Bear in Heaven has a new credo for their newest work: less is more. Having always worked subtractively by starting with too much and stripping away layer after layer, the group has decided to simplify their new record by focusing on emotional response rather than technical prowess. The band is set to release their fourth full-length album, Time is Over One Day Old, on August 5 after which they will embark on a world tour.

The first single from their new album, “Time Between,” is a pulsating mixture of heavy drum beats and low synthetic hums. The clean, steady marching of the track conjures the image of a restless mind trapped in a cyclical oblivion. The lyrics echo this image: “Time between / nothing to do,” evoking the common themes of boredom and impatience.
