“Attachment” is one of only two Hannah Diamond singles released on PC Music, a record label full of artists who all sound like what a science fiction writer might imagine pop music will be like in the 22nd century.

Every time I try to break down this profoundly weird song into its individual parts, I end up describing something along the lines of the adorable moppets from Les Miserables, singing lyrics from a 14-year-old girl’s diary, sped up to the tempo of Alvin and the Chipmunks, accompanied by strange plunking noises that sound like someone fooling around with Ableton DJ software for the first time.

It is without a doubt one of the strangest things I’ve ever heard, and I cannot stop listening to it. There is no doubt in my mind that “Attachment” will be stuck in my head for the rest of the weekend, and I can’t say I’m upset about it.

Give it a listen and get it stuck in your head, too. You can download “Attachment” (as well as “Pink and Blue,” Hannah Diamond’s other single) for free on Soundcloud.
