“My wave, my shark, my demon in the dark
the blue tide pullin’ me under
are you my soul, my heart, pull everything apart
are you gonna, are you gonna be my love?”

Lyrics alone rarely prepare you for the full feeling a track instills. But if the lyrics above stir up thoughts of poetry shared at an open mic or the sedating effects of deep blue water, you’re already at the heart of it.

Last month we shared “Body Gold,” the first in a set of monthly singles from enigmatic Londoners Oh Wonder (who were then called Wonder Wonder—it turns out, they say, that someone else already had the old name). Their second offering, “Shark,” admittedly sounds much like the first, but we’ve got no complaints. Reigning in pop and loosening the leash on R&B, “Shark” is a low-dose of some heavy-hitting medicine.
