The title-bearing opening song of the Montreal duo Majical Cloudz’s latest EP has a confession to make. Devon Welsh’s manly but smooth voice tells us a love story that does not necessarily have a happy ending, but the quiet drum beats and the harmonic background sounds make the song a freeing experience for the listener.

The wretchedness of the track may be due to the sorrowful background vocals that complement the track oh so well. Even though “Turns Turns Turns” is one of the slowest/saddest tracks on the EP, it quickly became my favorite due to its honest lyrics that everyone can relate.

Majical Cloudz’s story also lays in the lyrics of this majical song. The excitement of doing something freeing and new and the worries that come with that must be exactly what the duo felt releasing their first album, II, in 2011.

Make sure to check out rest of the EP for many other catchy and more upbeat songs, such as “I Don’t Believe in Anybody” and “What That Was”, which show the full musical talent of the duo with electronic beats and mellifluousness.

Overall the EP Turns Turns Turns is a great addition to the band’s discography with four songs, all different from each other and offering listeners a refreshing indie experience with a touch of melancholy.
