Haim is kind of like a Wilson Phillips + Destiny’s Child sandwich with a slight dash Madonna and The Bangles thrown in for a bit of extra flavor. Yes, it’s as eclectic as it sounds, but let me tell you: it’s awesome. Especially if you like to move as much as I do — and I really, really like to move.

Though sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim formed Haim in 2006, the group only released their first EP in June 2011. The music they make is a kind of musical hybrid that I can best define as electro indie rock, with a certain amount of folk thrown in there too. (But really, the sisters all don the exact same Joni Mitchell center part waist length hairstyle.) Their most recent single “Falling” is especially rich with the kind of ’80s flair that I once tried to emulate by donning leg warmers and spazzing around my room to Paula Abdul tapes. If there were anything capable of reawakening this particular hobby in my white girl dancing soul, Haim would be the girls to do it. “Falling” is not just a catchy piece of music — there is just such a sense of personality that comes through in Haim’s performance.
