Is Tove Lo the saddest girl in Stockholm? Well, if her big-banger “Habits” contains even an ounce of truth, then yes, yes she is. While the music — a minimal beat with some stringy-synths — is strangely joyous, her lyrics detail a misguided attempt to get over someone by binge-eating bad food, having empty sex, and constantly being high. And we all know how low always being high makes you feel.

The video doesn’t offer up any consoling either, unless you’re into watching girls ingest booze like most of us take in oxygen. But Tove Lo’s vocal chords are capable of overpowering the words that come from them, and with the quiet verses and belted choruses of “Habits,” she proves stronger than your team’s new defensive lineman in training camp. Tove Lo may be undeniably sad, but “Habits” is undeniably catchy — and most of us will be too busy jamming out to it to care.
