In this day and age it can be hard to tell what’s going to come on after the fuzzy old record machine intro plays. Swing? Electro? Kanye? Thankfully, when the downtempo drums kick in it’s obvious we won’t be getting a fast-paced song made by a computer. So what do we get? Chicago hip-hop and blues mixed together to create Martin $ky’s “S’all Good.”

Although he has a $ in his name and seems to have created a simpler way to say “it’s all,” don’t let these grammatical errors turn you off from pushing play. Unlike most rappers, you can actually understand what he’s saying in the song (minus some grammatical interpretations) and the vibe is the most enjoyable part. He even says, “I rap different than people in my city do”.

Slightly cocky lyrics is what all rappers make their success off of, and $ky is no different in this sense. But his jazz-esque harmony make it sound less cocky, more chill, and relaxed enough that I think my parents might even bop their heads back and forth to the beat.
