The staying power of dream indie pop trio Blonde Redhead is nothing short of impressive. “No More Honey” is the moody yet ethereal ballad that is also the first taste of the band’s upcoming ninth (yes…ninth) album, Barragán. There’s something slightly addictive about this song—it probably has something to do with the trance like state Kazu Makino’s voice puts you in.

Blonde Redhead softened their sound a bit in 2010 with their album Penny Sparkle. I for one am glad to hear that they are going back to their usual edge. The trudging, raw bottom line of the song is what drew most listeners to the quirky trio—and if this single is any indication, it’s a sound that still works for them.
