Laura Stevenson: “Torch Song”

Word on the street is that Laura Stevenson put together her upcoming album in the attic of a 19th Century Victorian house that used to be a brothel. She also named that record Cocksure. Her single “Torch Song” stands on its own, though, with a pop-grunge sound balanced by Stevenson’s mesmerizing vocals.

Line & Circle: “Like a Statue

Expansive and warm, “Like a Statue” is the perfect jam for a lazy afternoon. Look for their upcoming album, Split Figure, expected out Oct. 2 via Grand Gallop.

SEXWITCH: “Helelyos

Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes debuts her new project with this dark single that feels like a combination of psych rock, garage rock and Patti Smith. The percussive groove and resonating bass make the whole thing wonderfully otherworldly.

Unalaska: “Skeleton

Despite its run-time of six minutes, “Skeleton” manages to keep you transfixed the whole time. For their first-ever official single, Unalaska pulls out all the stops: psychedelic synth loops, harmonious guitars, and a hypnotizing beat keep the track running without getting tired.

Petite Noir: “MDR

Petite Noir wants you to dance. Do it.
