“Somewhere between synthpop, electronic-pop, half-time beats, hip-hop and indie.” Such is the definition nascent Munich ensemble Claire uses to describe a sound they call “neon pop.” Sounds about right.

It isn’t music for those in need of some soul searching, but if you’re looking for some ’90s club pop nostalgia this is it. The beat alone has me wiggling around my living room. The real strength of the group is in lead vocalist Josie-Claire Bürkle, also the inspiration behind the group’s name. Her voice is smooth and ethereal, immediately drawing the listener in. In the repeated lines “It’s all right, and it’s all right / as long as I can be with you” the band creates in a dialogue, Bürkle’s voice stands out in stark contrast, so the repetitive nature of the track becomes hypnotizing rather than redundant.
