Ben Khan is the dark horse of electronic R&B. Not even an EP has come out of this British-born Kashmir artist, but his mystique only adds to his allure — his three SoundCloud-released tracks are being consumed faster than Bruce Bogtrotter‘s chocolate cake, and for good reason.

Khan’s latest single, “Eden,” is the perfect soundtrack to heady days of self-discovery; it reeks of sex, drugs, spiritual reflection, and the spoils of youth. Guitars warble over a hazy beat, synths throb along the base, and horns lick the groove with a snarl, pushing us forward in a greedy chase. Khan’s vocals climb to the top of the heap, hailing a hedonistic — almost apocalyptic — disregard for caution.

Like his peers Jai Paul and Jungle, Khan will soon be emerging from the shadows with a debut EP. It remains to be seen if his swampy and sensual sound will withstand the floodgates of the industry, but for now we’re content finding pleasure in the darkness.
