As you probably have heard, fun.’s Jack Antonoff has a new project called Bleachers. If you haven’t heard, don’t worry because Jonk Music is about to tell you a bit more about them. We’re also going to tell you that you should also maybe consider moving from the rock you live under as it has been a bit hard to escape the press surrounding the new band.

The Bleachers performed at SXSW this month, played on Late Night with Seth Meyers last week, premiered a Lena Dunham-directed music video for their single “I Wanna Get Better” the other day, and have been listed in the lineup for both Governor’s Ball Music Festival and Firefly Music Festival. Oh, and Wisconsin fans can see Bleachers at either Summerfest in June or at Lollapalooza in August. Take your pick, the options seem to be endless.

Jack Antonoff said to Rolling Stone that he wants Bleachers to “bridge the gap between Disclosure and Arcade Fire — something both streamlined and organic” and while I do believe his sound in “I Wanna Get Better” is powerfully crafted and super over-the-top, I’m not sure it really bridges the gap that Jack Antonoff intended it to. Then again, that’s totally OK because what he did give us is an emotional-filled ballad that’s incredibly catchy, ’90s pop-esque but suitable for today’s ears. The best part is clearly the supped-up, fast-paced bridge that leads into a retro-fuzzy guitar solo. While the bridge sold me at first, the more and more I’ve listened to the song in full I’ve actually grown to like it exponentially more than I did the first time around. It’ll easily carry us through the entire summer and given the extensive work Antonoff and producers, John Hill and Vince Clark, have put into Bleachers, they deserve for it to be successful. Plus, we probably won’t be able to escape its wrath on the radio/internet. Enjoy!
