A band going with the CHVRCHES formula for success minus the pop, Vaults’ new song “Premonitions” is driven by humming synths and a prominent snap while their lead singer’s slow and soft crooning leaves behind a more serious tone. This is a solid track through its first two-and-a-half minutes and it maintains its sense of foreboding throughout, but when the strings come in on the last minute, this song is taken to another level. My eyes widened at my surprise, hearing an addition to the track I was not at all expecting. It worked perfectly with the rest of the arrangement.

There’s not much that can be found easily about the London group just yet. While they are ready to interact on nearly every social media platform available (including Google+), they only have two songs on their YouTube and SoundCloud accounts. Regardless, it seems as though Vaults has captured a sound both majestic and gripping, and that sound should be able to take them places. Let’s hope we see an EP release from them in the coming months.
