If you’re looking to impress your friends with a band that is so fresh and new that their soundcloud was created a month ago and consists of two super smooth and jazzy tracks, look to Mother. The Brooklyn four-piece band formed just a few months ago and started performing just in February. “Easy” is their first single and its markedly slower pace and minimalist musical production separates it from the heavy bass drops and intense reverb that characterizes the modern music world. The vocals are striped down and consistent, the feeling that radiates from the mellow beats is one of cool simplicity. The bass helps to back up the beat and give it funkier undertone, but background guitar riffs towards the end break it up.

Penn Badgley, who is best known for his acting role on the teen television flick Gossip Girl, is part of the musical production team and has been friends with his bandmates for years; they record in apartments in Brooklyn and mix and master their work in Chicago. Little has been done by way of PR for the band but it is rumored they have a new single and an EP coming out soon.
