Having just released their debut single, New Zealand synth-pop duo Broods is already garnering some impressive buzz. It might help that they worked with producer Joe Little, who happened to also produce the music of much-hyped fellow New Zealander Lorde. Very little information is available thus far on this mysterious pair other than the names Georgia and Caleb Nott, but with the impressive way they burst onto the scene we can expect to hear more of them in the future.

Their single, which has amassed an impressive amount of plays on Soundcloud in less than a month, is a soaring synth pop piece worthy of the attention it has received. The song builds from a duet between airy vocals and piano into a symphony of synth sounds and electronic drum beats, and every element is woven together with an expert’s touch into a calming tapestry of sound. Asking the emotionally charged question, “Am I burning all your bridges now?”, the song establishes a mood of regret and finality but not without a touch of optimism.
